one of the longterm golas for building spaceships in orbit is to construct a ship already named Vanguard.

Which will travel to Alpha centauri, to conduct these sort of experiments on a large scale.

So far all they have been able to transmit though, is a single electron, nothing complicated, and certainly nothing organic.
