at least they're going after the bigger guys now. I think thats takes off some of the heat from the adult biz & I'm sure they're getting way more $$$ from corperations like the mouse

Basicly Jenn this group of people say they have the patent on streaming video over the internet... so they're pretty much going around to all the compainies who use streaming video on the internet and taxing them for using their idea.

Jenn,
they actually have 5 patents. Mostly on a process. Virtually anyone that streams video is infringing on their patent. they want 1-6 percent of your gross revenue. The IMPA.org is the group fighting them. It is heade by Spike at Homegrown.
Since this is a professional board and not GFY, let it be known that there are two more such companies lurking in the background. One just settled with BMG Music for 3.3 Million and the other is just starting to raise its ugly head.
We all could be paying three different companies as they all have similar, but different patents that we all could be potentially infringing upon.

One of the companies has the patent on faster than real time transmission of video over the net and the other has getting paid for video or audio over the net.
That is what I have heard, but dont quote me on it.

And again, one of the companies has a straight up patent, not on a process. They got it in the late 80's, before Acacia.
