View Full Version : What should a successful affiliate program have?

Let's just assume the content is exclusive and high quality. Let's also assume conversions are high and retention is excellent. What would it take for you to promote a program to the fullest? What kind of payouts would you like to see (recurring, PPS)? Are hosted galleries of big importance? What kind of promotional assistance would you need? How about prize incentives? Would the affiliate program home have a simple design or have all kinds of visual bells and whistles?
If you could design the perfect affiliate program, what would it have?

I'll show you in 2 weeks.:pimp1:
..except that I think we don't have enough balls to go PPS route.
I think hosted galleries are important to get people to sign up for the program.
As far as payouts, I think it should be up to the webmaster to decide. Offer a choice. That always gives me a positive outlook on a program.

For me: hosted galleries, easy to find and use free content, premade movie clips for galleries, SIMPLE affiliate area so it's easy to navigate but not colorless and boring.
Detailed statistics: just make a big chart that shows everything and goes back 10 days or so without making me click a bunch. Add the total sales at the bottom. Uniques, visits, REFERRING URLS are really nice but I don't see anyone using them except freeezinebucks and sort of vividcash.
Announce when new content is up for grabs.
I don't know if big prizes are all that great of an idea since the top webmasters will send a lot more sales then other webmasters anyway. Some programs use them though so maybe they do work. But small prizes like wishing.com uses are probobly good for getting webmasters to sign up then you have to have the rest to keep them there.
Also adding in a newbie area that will give them tips on how to create tgps, get traffic, find cheap hosting, etc. would be a good idea. Make it simple and accessible.

As far as processing... Do you like programs with program side stats, or would you rather see it straight from the processor?

I agree with everything above...
to go a step further with choices on payouts... how about a choice of processors.
With hosted galleries, I like how extreme emails me with the newest links
for some of the smaller sites, maybe cheap traffic for purchase to fuel trades or a traffic back option like pornkings offer
