It should really make a difference, for some sponsors i even even got conversion rates of 1:11, which is awesome, while datinggold is not even near that, using the same construction i do with other sponsors :(

First of all, text links work 100x better than a banner. The exact text depends on the type of site you have.

The overall best converting text link is actually something very simple:

If you have to use a banner, hit me up on ICQ and I can help find the best one to use on your site. We also have hosted galleries which have a good click through rate and convert very well.

Double optin emails do great, so do members upsells.

I dont know if your other sponsors were dating or not, but you really cant promote a dating sponsor and a porn sponsor the same way, they dont want the same things.
